I think Tom Scocca at Slate nails it on the head about GOP Kentucky Senate nominee Rand Paul. The problem with the Rachel Meadows interview that sparked all this bruhaha "was not that he said something terrible about civil rights. It was that he was afraid to say what he really believes about civil rights."
Meanwhile, my favorite comment on the Paul situation comes from the wearisome Sarah Palin: "Now he knows what it's like to be me." That's a scary thought.
